Salvage Garden

GBa_edited_edited_edited.jpg

This client had a North facing upper terrace of their Victorian property covered in rotting decking. She wanted room for planting, a surface which didn't get slippy in winter and the whole project to be executed with sustainability very much in mind. We re-used some of the decking to create attractive posts to be used as shelter for small insects and to create a bench for showing potted plants. The new paving was actually old (and beautiful), concrete paving with some Victorian blue, textured pavers as detail; it was laid with minimum use of cement. The steps down to the lower garden were made from salvage rocks and miscellaneous masonry. The client is finishing the planting herself with cuttings and young plants from friends.
